Reflections Vol. 24: The Way I Pray

Years ago I stopped pleading with the Divine outside myself. I’ve even changed the image in my mind’s eye of connecting with my own higher self, that part of me in full integration with source.   Instead of psychically “reaching” out side, I go inward to that secret place in the heart that every medical student avoids touching in any way, for if it is touched, the patient immediately dies. I believe that in that tiny space, the individual aspect of soul that animates me is plugged into the source of everything

Part of this change came about as I learned about energy and the ways to move it and change it: intention, choice of words, use of sound ( which is vibration ) and percussion. As I open more and more to Source, I experienced that “Isness”as a particular range of frequencies that feel to me like variations on a theme:

Love

Beauty

Light

When I asked to “see,” to experience directly the Divine, I was shown a constantly moving stream of serpentine energy imbued with bursts of brilliant color, unformed / formless yet tangible, holding within itself the vibration – the essence – of love/beauty, harmony, acceptance/appreciation, creativity/creative power. It felt like Home. My whole being yearned toward it until I hit the energetic barrier that said, “Not yet. You have work to do.”

Now when I pray, I don’t put words around the situation of focus. For one thing, I don’t know what anyone truly needs, what is the highest good for that soul. For another, I do know the powerful effect of love and the intention to be of service. So I bring the soul and the situation into my heart and my innermost being, and I surround it with the brightest light and purest love I can. Then I release it to the wisdom and love of Creative Source. After that, I watch to see what happens.

People often say things like, “I felt you so strongly. You comforted me and I felt stronger and less alone.  I knew what to do.” Since every one of us always has everything we need inside us, helping someone find it is an honor and a privilege.
