Fall on me,
gentle raindrops.
Wash away the grime of despair.
Let my tears hide within
your freshening mist.
Fall on me,
torrential storm,
so my fury and fear
can hide within you.
I am one with your power.
Remind me, O rain
of how water flows around obstacles
& the unified molecules of waves
reform what it crashes against.
Remind me: Earth herself weeps, even as I do.
Remind me: Earth herself rages
when it is time to say
Enough!
Remind me of the greening
that follows devastation.
Remind me of balance
as I wobble in tumultuous times.
Stir memories of placid lakes that mirror the moon
so that I can settle into the still dark to gaze skyward.
Sing songs to me of your journey from the sky,
what you felt when you splashed to earth
alongside with your brethren.
What chorus arose as you poured into low places?
Did you feel confined by the rough rocks that directed your passage?
Did you mourn the lightness and freedom of being sky-blown?
Or have you mastered the present moment
in order to reshape yourself into the new reality?
Teach me, Rain, so that I too
can see and be refreshment for parched souls.
Teach me to trust
the power of banding together
in unquestioned service
so that I, too, can be a force
for renewing Life.
